How to make a great art print of your car on steel

The background is as important as your car for making a great piece of art. Start by looking for a cool background that you can use when you shoot a photo of your car. The background can be an old building, barn or closed down gas station, the beach, a 50's diner or a bridge. If you have a friend or know of someone with a vintage gas station set-up in their yard, see if you can arrange to do a shoot there.

I recommend that in your daily travels, keep an eye open for a good looking backdrop. Take note of the time of day you would need to shoot your photo. The sun behind you or above you is good and cloudy days can be even better. Arrange your vehicle for what we call a ¾ shot. This means a ¼ of the shot is the grill and the rest the side of the car. Some vehicles look better from the rear so ¼ rear and ¾ side. Shoot several pictures at different heights and slightly different angles. Watch out for reflections and shadows. If shooting on a sunny day, watch out for glare coming off the chrome. If people are to be in the picture, take a lot of pictures to find the perfect one. Also, keep an eye open for unintended objects in the foreground or background. It's easy to miss these when you're concentrating on the car.

What we need from you to make a great print
This is the technical part. If you have ever sent an email with an attachment, you can do this! The best photo file for us to work with is a 10 megabyte 300 DPI (dots per inch) saved as a JPEG sent to us as an attachment to an email. Most phone photos will not work. The Samsung Galaxy phone camera will work for our smaller size prints. For larger prints the photo needs to be shot with a higher megapixel digital camera. The photo file needs to be large but still be able to go through email. Sometimes email servers will automatically down size the file before letting it go through. For larger files we recommend using This is a free service. Simply log on to and load your photo(s).

Old photos can also be used to create a piece of art. If you have access to a scanner, scan the photo at the highest resolution available on the device. Transfer the scan to your computer and send as an attachment to an email. You can also have your photos scanned at Staples or OfficeMax. Again, use the highest resolution available.

Here are the sizes and prices
The set up charge is $35.00 per photo. This is for the first copy. Additional copies ordered of the same print have no additional set up charges. You only pay for the additional signs ordered. These can be of different sizes.

How long does it take?
Once we receive your photo we will check to see if it will work for the size of the sign that will be ordered. If the photo file is good we will enhance and process the photo into a piece of art. We will email the result to you for approval. Once approved, you can place your order and pay with a credit card. Typically, an order can be processed and shipped in 7-10 working days. Shipping can be from 1-5 days depending on where the shipment is going to. Shipping costs can vary depending on size(s) ordered and where the delivery will be made.
